About Whizzy...Whizzy was invented by me, Jan Wagner, after disabling arthritis made normal sitting up and down and mid-air balancing too difficult. I needed a solution.After finding nothing on the market that worked for me, I created my own. It had to be quick and easy to use and to not require too much bending or movement of body or clothing. Testing eight designs, I rated them repeatedly on coverage, accuracy of aim, trajectory and ease of use. I found what I needed! One more design element remained. Prior to becoming disabled, I had worked 15 years as a social worker, including four years working with elderly and disabled in nursing homes. I knew from experience that the design needed to work for women with limited grip strength. So a lovely 85-year-old woman with severe arthritis in her hands, knees and hips, who wanted Whizzy to work for her too, tested my three handle designs. When she was happy, so was I. Paper selection was made carefully with non-toxicity to body and environment in mind. Our initial Whizzy, though plain, contains no dyes and is a food grade paper. The final design is simple. It was created with great care so that all women can use it with confidence and ease. Of course, Whizzy is also great fun.
